Character Design Rules for
TWIN EMPIRES

For my Twin Empires setting, I am using a new character design system based around the Albedo RPG design rules. The new system uses a table (shown below) with various Characteristic (Stat) scores with a Cost at the top, and a Class to the left. Each race has a Class letter for each Stat, and then you select how many points you are willing to pay for that Stat from a pool of 60 (standard PC level), and you find the appropriate score from the chart.

For Example: Humans have a Class of D for all of their Stats. I could just choose to have all the Stats at an average score of 6 by spending 5 points for each Stat (5x10=50 points). I could also choose to increase Reflexes by spending 8 points to get a score of 8, while having 42 points left which could be used to give all the other Stats scores of 6's and 5's to balance it out.

The 50 points is for average, everyday characters, if you want more powerful PC's, then look at the Cinematic Characters sidebar (Mekton Zeta, pg. 25) and reduce the points listed there by 10, so a Primary Character gives you 60 points instead of the 70 points originally printed.

To see what each race's classes are, just click here.

Cinematic Character Points
  • Major Character: 70 points
The heavy hitters. This is either the main bad guy, or a very heroic character. This should be reserved for NPCs.
  • Minor Character: 65 points
Good villains. Not too powerful, but far from weak. A villain's top henchman, or a powerful PC/NPC.
  • Primary Character: 60 points
This is the majority of PCs and NPCs that will be in the game. They are the military officers, competent civilians, and general bad guys of a campaign.
  • Secondary Character: 55 points
This is a good point spread for characters fresh out of the Lifepath: family, friends and lower enemies.
  • Average Joe: 50 points
    The guy on the street.
  • Basic NPC: 45 points
A low-level "grunt" of an NPC. Good for the faceless masses.
